Getting Carved 2020
I know that for a lot of people, 2020 has taken away the normal routine of their festivities. I moved here 7 years ago, and in the first few years, we would get together and carve pumpkins. Then some had kids, we all got busy, and we just couldn't find time in our crazy schedules to carve together. Well, I threw it out there what we needed to get together, which we could do still socially distanced and carve pumpkins. Fun fact, I don't like carving pumpkins. I don't know if it is the smell, the feel, or just the getting messy for no reason when it comes to why I am just not a fan, but I do enjoy getting together and allowing everyone else to carve. Also, there are other ways to utilize pumpkins without carving them. I have studded and painted, but this year I decided to cable knit. That is where you take hot glue and layout the design of a cable knit sweater on the pumpkin and then paint. It took a lot of time, but I was not covered in pumpkin innards, so I was very happy. Plus, everyone else got to carve, they didn't have to really worry about clean up, and we all got to talk and catch up. Check out the carve pumpkins of my friends!
If there is something that 2020 has taught everyone (which 2019 really taught me this) it is to take time. Time is the most valuable thing that we have, and taking time to be around those that you choose to be around it the best. We weren't able to be together and spend time together for so long, and now that we are in October, we are making time to be together again. I hope that those of you that can spend time with loved one do take the time to spend it together. Carve some pumpkins even if it isn't your favorite thing, because some day, you might not get to have those moments together, and when you look back, you will regret not making that time.
