PA Visit 2018
PA Visit 2018
Two and a half years ago, my brother, Daniel, and I received a wedding invite to a friends wedding, and decided that we would jump on that flight since we figured that it would be a good chance to see everyone in Pennsylvania all at once. Who would have thought that any plan to go this year would be ruined and that would have been the last time we all saw each other? We jam-packed that weekend to make sure that we got to see everyone that we previously spent time with; even our bartender/waitress at the Marriott!
Yes, that is correct, we had a regular one of those! We would go to the Marriott any weekend to watch the out-of-towners & wedding attendants get wasted or cut loose for their weekends away. Some weekends it would be really good and some weekends would be duds. We got to meet people like Twitch and Allison from, at that time, So You Think You Can Dance. Some weekends would have amazing weather, and some would literally have hurricanes roll in. No matter what, though, we enjoyed our time with Trinity and she made sure we had the best drinks! When Daniel and I went on Saturday night with Wanda, Trinity was at the bar, and she said that it was a blast from the past to see us all walk in. It was amazing having my Raspberry, Vodka & Champagne drink that was my go to when Trintiy worked!
In a town where very little changed when we lived there, it was crazy to see how much had changed at the downtown square in just a couple years and how our regular spots on a Friday or Saturday night had changed; one shop turned into a 3 story bar with the same name & there was a new club above a new bakery/market. All of it was a little overwhelming, which I never thought I would say since it was always a bonus to me to have things change to bring in bars/restaurants/clubs, but it was so different!
The wedding, whole reason that we went, was amazing! We got to dance, people watch and hang out with friends that we hadn't seen for a couple years. We got to get dressed up, surround ourselves with friends who are a lot like family at this point, and have a night out celebrating the union of friends. While we were at the reception, we even made sure to recreate an image (the family on that is on my home page) because why wouldn't we?!?
Sunday morning, we did brunch with friends who weren't all at the wedding at a new spot, then did drinks at a new bar at the corner, and then grabbed some edible cookie dough at a new staple downtown. It was so amazing getting lost in conversations, enjoying the weather, and hated saying goodbye when it had to end. We made sure to take advantage (we were a New York City day trip crew back in the day) of it all and made sure to take photos. We then rounded out the weekend with going to a small town fair and getting to hang out with grown friends littles (their kids) play games, eat some fair food, and just catch up on all the things that we miss out on living miles away in Texas.
I had the thought this year, much earlier then covid being a thing, to actually go to visit since it has been a couple years, but everything was put on hold. I have had to watch the changes or even just the day in-day out of my friends through their Instagram & Facebook posts and stories. I miss all of them dearly & hope to make a trip in the future. Miss you all something fierce!
