Spring at the Silos 2019
2019 Spring at the Silos was a new experience for us. We decided, almost on a whim, was possibly one of the best decisions we made last year. Three months, well, actually, three days into the year and we had already (as friends) had more happen to us than anyone else we knew. We needed this road trip to reset our year and create a new outlook on what the year was meant to be.
We piled in the car, made sure we had snacks, water, and hats, drove about an hour and a half and parked close enough that we could access the car when needed.
From the moment our feet hit the pavement, we were relaxed and decided that this would be an experience that we would enjoy; nowhere specific to be and at no particular time. Before even making it to the grounds, we found a photo moment with a bus with balloons, so of course, we took that moment to grab a pic. When we made it to the start of the streets lined in tents, we started to think of all the fun that we could have. I mean, if money were not a question, and our bank accounts were limitless, we would have probably bought something from almost every vendor. Some were full on creatives, some were boutique style fashion spaces, and then there were some food tents like Old Salt Merchants (https://www.oldsaltmerchants.com/) and Gigi Pip hats (https://www.gigipip.com/), and yes, bought something from both of those vendors! There was a lot of walking and a lot of people, but everyone was in a great mood! There was something for everyone, even the men, because I believe Chip had a say in a couple vendors, like Xylo Bats (https://www.xylobats.com/).
Lunch and extra snacks were easy to find since they were stationed within the venue, like they always are, and even some that came in specific for the event, like Cousin's (https://www.cousinsmainelobster.com/) and The Hyppo (https://www.thehyppo.com/). I was pretty happy about both of those! And we did pack snacks and water with us to make sure that we had something throughout the day when we needed.
All-in-all, it was a great experience, so much fun to walk about and meet vendors & shop. Unfortunately, 2020 was cancelled (or maybe rescheduled) due to virus, but I would suggest going to any of the Silo events if you are looking for a days worth of festivities in Waco. They even have concerts at night, and though I haven't stayed to do any of those, it is on the list of things to do in the future.
